THE PURPOSE OF CERTIFICATION

The purpose of the certification process is to provide assurance to the public that a practitioner has successfully completed a program from an approved and accredited educational institution with approved educational content and an evaluation, including an examination process designed to assess the knowledge, experience and skills required to provide high quality patient care in that specialty. Successful practitioners then have the privilege of using the designated trademark (intellectual property) issued by the CNMCC.

THE CNMCC CERTIFICATION PROCESS

Graduates wishing to sit for CNMCC certification examinations must have completed a program in an approved and accredited educational institution consisting of required program content. Graduates may apply to sit for the examination by submitting the following documents:

A fully completed application form with the application fee.
A signed & sealed transcript from an accredited post secondary educational institution in Canada.
The most current academic calendar from the accredited post secondary institution.

All submissions will be evaluated based on the program guidelines and recommendations provided on the PROGRAM GUIDELINES page. Upon approval applicants will be notified of the location, date and time of the next certification examination in their region.

Note: Institutions may apply for program approval to save each student the cost of individual approval of their education program. For further information please contact us regarding institutional program approval.

EXAMINATIONS

Languages

All examinations shall be offered in English and French. However, the T.C.M. examinations will be offered to Chinese practitioners in Chinese.

Examination Content

The examination shall consist of both a written examination and a clinical examination. The examination shall test the applicant's knowledge and competence in the area.
The certification examination content will reflect the percentage of required program content (see above).
Upon successful completion of the examination, applicants to have the privilege of using the designated trademark (intellectual property) issued by the CNMCC.

Definitions

"trade-mark"

Simply put, a trade-mark (intellectual property) is a name, design or logo used to distinguish one person´s products or services from that of another. The purpose of a trade-mark is that the user (consumer) can distinguish the source of the product/service and the high standard of quality or reputation associated with that product/service.

® "registered trade-mark" is protected nationwide and is for the owner´s exclusive use or for the owner to license intellectual property to bodies interested in using its trade-mark to designate a similar service

The Council of Natural Medicine College of Canada (CNMCC) has developed a rigorous array of educational programs and examinations in the field of holistic, natural health and traditional Chinese medicine practices. As a means for the public to recognize individuals who have completed the CNMCC programs offered by approved and accredited educational institutions and the CNMC examinations, each educational program is identified by a trade-mark. One such example is the D.T.C.M. (DOCTOR OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE) program identified by its trade-mark.

Upon successful completion of the programs and examination, the successful students are given a license to use the corresponding trademarks, which is associated with the high standards of the programs and the rigorous examinations developed by CNMCC.
